Today I'm thrilled to share with you one of the most interesting and informative weddings I've ever been a part of. Anna and Aaron married this spring at The Dallas Zoo. Their wedding was interfaith Lutheran and Jewish and their rabbi explained unique and shared traditions between both faiths and led a beautiful service.
Prior to the ceremony, Anna and her ladies got pampered at DryBar in Highland Park and then their makeup was done flawlessly by Jennifer Trotter of Lip Service Makeup.
After we arrived at the zoo, some of the animal handlers brought the critters out for some photos. This presented it's own unique challenges since wild animals typically don't know how to 1. be still and 2. look at the camera. I realized very quickly that these were not going to be "traditional" bridal party shot. We took photos with a flamingo, an African penguin, a snake, a baby alligator, a tortoise, a porcupine, and an African Serval cat.
After the ceremony, the reception was held in an area in immediate view of the elephants and guests were entertained with feeding the giraffes. The Dallas Zoo provided catering and the meal was delicious!
If you follow me on social media at all, you know I'm a complete animal freak, and this wedding was such an emotional experience for me. I spent the majority of the day literally in awe of these beautiful animals and I think I can speak for the guests as well. I had to really change my way of thinking and doing things because everything that happened was completely out of my control, ha! I love photojournalism, I love the real and unstaged, and I loved when the giraffe stuck out his tongue at me and then tried to eat Aaron's boutonniere. Enjoy!
